Weekly Roundup

Theo Flack represented the club at Odd Down Circuit at the weekend. It was cold and the course was wet. Inevitably, with some post Christmas dodgy bike handling, there were numerous crashes; the most decisive being on the last lap allowing a group of 7 in front of the crash to split from the field and hold the gap to the finish. Theo managed to stay upright and win the sprint for the best of the rest and a very hard earned 8th place. The next race at Odd Down is on 2nd Feb. Beginners welcome; all you need is a British Cycling membership (which grants you provisional membership) and then you may be required to buy a day race licence on the day. Silver members and above will receive full race licences. Enter here.

First Ride of 2014

Welcome back everyone. Now that (most) exams and Christmas are done and dusted it's time to get back into the swing of things. This Sunday 26th January will be the first club ride of 2014. We hope to have a good turn out, so bring along a friend and give a nudge to anyone who's become a bit lazy over the holidays. Bring along some cash too as we may stop at a cafe afterwards for some post ride cake.

Pick up your Kit

If you've ordered kit and not yet picked it up, please collect it on Tuesday 1-1:50pm in the Queen's Building foyer. There will also be some rather stylish UOBCC cycling caps for sale at a reasonable £10. And if you're lucky there may even be some water bottles to purchase too. We hope you're as pleased as we are with the kit.

Open 10TT - 29th March

On 29th March the club will host its first ever Open event. This will be a 10 mile time trial on the U7B course. The event HQ is at Falfield village hall. Entries are now open on the CTT Website. This is a really great event for both beginners and experienced riders to aim for. And what's more, you'll be able to celebrate your new PB with a victory burrito courtesy of Mission Burrito. Don't worry if you've not ridden a time trial before. The event will be really easy going and you can even borrow TT bars from club.

We'll be running some specific training sessions in the coming weeks.

New 20mph Speed Limit

Take note of the new speed limit in place across most of central Bristol. You can't get a ticket for speeding on a bike, but you can get done for dangerous riding if you're being reckless.

If you do take any pictures whilst you're out cycling, and you're happy for us to use them, please do send them to Tom Mowbray. (Or just send us a message on facebook as to where we can find them).
