Velo Ecosse/ UoBCC rider Patrick Galbraith rode the men's Senior road race championships at Andover last weekend. Here's his account of the race:
"The course was a long one at 90 miles, quite lumpy with one major hill to split the pack up. About eighty riders started the race with a number of good riders including Olympic mountain biker Oli Beckinsale and strong teams from Herbalife and Diabetes UK.
A break of about ten went clear after the first fifteen miles and from then on the bunch was whittled down on each ascent of the hill, shrinking to about 2/3rds of its original number. I got into a second break with two laps of the fifteen mile loop to go and ended up coming home 17th."
This gives Patrick another 5 points in his attempt to earn a 2nd Category licence this season.
In the women's race, VC St. Raphael/ UoBCC rider Jenny Hudson took fourth, gaining 17 points and cementing her position as one of VC Rapha's top performers this season.
