Food Cycle

Get on your bike, prevent food waste and help out a great community project. Volunteers needed Saturdays 9-10pm and Sunday mornings (cycling or cooking).

Tour of Britain Stage 4 Finish in Bristol

Wednesday 10th September will see the world's top riders racing into Bristol from Worcester at the end of a 182-kilometre leg, before tackling the one-kilometre, 10% climb of Bridge Valley Road to the finish on Clifton Downs.

BSCC Time Trials - Chew Valley Lake etc..

For anyone looking for more TT fun, Bristol South CC club TT events will begin from 2nd April. These would be really great practice, and anyone is welcome. More info here.

Weekly Roundup

We had some cake racing, and a team competing at BUCS track last weekend. We've got one race report, and keep an eye on facebook for a BUCS roundup.

Sports Award Dinner - 11th June

Save the date for Sports Award Dinner on 11th June. We'll let you know when you can buy tickets.

Bristol -> Bordeaux (600 miles for charity)

Here's a little message from Georgie:

"In less than 3 weeks time I'm going to be cycling to Bordeaux from Bristol (around 600miles!) with a group of people (I'm yet to meet) all hoping to raise awareness and support the charity Temwa. I hadn't heard of the charity myself until being told about this challenge but having looked into the brilliant work that is being done to sustainably develop one of the most disadvantaged regions in the world I decided that I had to get involved. Training commensed yesterday....so I have some work to do to be able to complete the challenge within the 8 day target!"

Cake Racing Roundup

Mega thanks to all who participated and helped out with the cake races today, it was a metric ton of fun.

Here are the results:

Hill Climb:

  • Andrew 4:11
  • Fred 4:21
  • Tom H 4:22
  • Tom S 5:13
  • Eric 5:30
  • Alice 7:15 (our sole woman's entrant).

For the downhill, Nat came back from a nasty 1st run crash to edge out the win with a 1:07 descent of The Full Belmonty. One would expect no less from our DH rep. Eric improved a couple seconds over his first run, but 1:08 wasn't enough to defeat the hardtail hero. Cam had an off on his first run, but despite that, still set a very promising time of 1:16. A potential winning run was snatched from his grasp by a big spill in front of the road bike spectators.

Social Rides

As it gets closer to exams, the social rides will continue every week, but there may not necessarily be any committee ride leaders.

Wednesday - 2pm

Sunday - 10am

Meet at the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Road and XC split into different ability groups and head out to explore the countryside.

Organise other rides through the facebook group.

End of Year Feedback Survey

It's your final chance to have your say before our official committee handover meeting. How did we do as a club this year? Did we meet expectations? What went well? What didn't go so great? Can you suggest any improvements or new ideas for 2014/2015?

Respond here.
