North Bristol Centurion

A great introductory 100 mile ride towards the north of Bristol covering some stunning areas of the Cotswolds.
Head out towards Wales via Cribbs Causeway, however when reaching Tockington, keep straight up Old Down Hill and then follow signs to Thornbury. The route turns very quiet after Thornbury, following some brilliant singletrack roads along up to Berkeley. After a brief stretch on the A38, another selection of fantastic quiet country lanes follows the estuary with fresh tarmac to reward you for venturing this far out of Bristol.

The route shortly 'turns back' and crosses the M5 - this stretch isn't fantastic however once you're past the motorway the road quiets down considerably. The only real hill in the route is found between Uley Road (B4066) to the B4058, as you enter the Cotswold hill range. The vista from this ascent is quite remarkable as the westerly landscape is very flat and thus the view spans for miles.

Enjoy the countryside along to Alderly and thereafter. The route takes follows Gloucester Road back into Bristol and takes two token loops of the downs to push it over 100 miles. This is a good time to celebrate your undeniable physical brilliance, possibly with a bottle of champagne like the pros.
